Seiya Suzuki wowed the Chicago Cubs fans at Wrigley Field on Monday night, sending a ball high into the Chicago sky and landing 455 feet from home plate for a three-run home run. Suzuki started the year on the injured list after hurting his knee at the WBC, but has been red-hot since returning. He did it again on Monday, as the Cincinnati Reds were up 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth when Suzuki tied the game for the Cubs with one swing.
It isn't the first time that Suzuki has done something like this at Wrigley Field. The streaky hitter has the two longest home runs at the historic ballpark since 2022, as he hit a 459-foot blast in August 2024, according to Sarah Langs via X, formerly Twitter.
Suzuki is in the middle of his best season in the majors if he can keep up the torrid pace since returning from injury. He has a .308/.402/.526 slash line with five home runs. His strikeout rate is still up, which is a cause for concern after a couple of rough seasons in that category, but he is doing more damage in the at-bats that don't end in a strikeout.
Seiya Suzuki's 32 home runs and 102 RBIs as the Cubs returned to the postseason garnered him some recognition during the 2025 season. If he can continue his pace with the Cubs, again sitting two games up in the NL Central race, Suzuki could get even more MVP votes this season. Home runs like the one Monday night will also help.
