The Chicago Cubs have worked their way into a crowded early NL Central race at 10–9, sitting 1.5 games back of first place heading into Game 2 of their three‑game set with the New York Mets at Wrigley Field. On Friday at Wrigley, Alex Bregman also created a memorable moment off the field. What began as a family celebration quickly drew widespread attention online, as video of his son Bennett's first birthday party was shared across multiple baseball and Cubs fan accounts on social media.

The Cubs' third baseman embraced his new home in a very special way on Friday afternoon. Approaching his first month with the club, he and his family hosted a small birthday celebration on the Wrigley Field playing surface.
The event honored his son Bennett's first birthday, with decorations lining the warning track. Balloons, stuffed animals, and a long party table transformed part of the iconic ballpark into a warm, personal space.
Prominent fan account Cubs Zone shared footage of the celebration on X, formerly Twitter. The video, originally captured by Reagan Bregman on her Instagram, quickly circulated and drew widespread attention, offering a unique peek into a player's life beyond the game.
The moment also showed how quickly the Cubs' star third baseman has settled in with the organization. After signing a five-year, $175 million contract in January, he has already become a central figure for the Cubs on and off the field.

Away from the celebration, the moment also pointed to Bregman's growing role within the clubhouse. While his early-season production is still finding consistency—batting .241 with 19 hits, two home runs, nine RBIs, and five runs scored in 19 games—his leadership and presence continue to stand out.
Bennett's birthday celebration now stands as one of the more unique moments of the young MLB season. Few players blend family life with the sport's historic venues in such a visible and meaningful way.
