Drew Pomeranz went into free agency not knowing what kind of offers he'd receive. But he knew he didn't want to sign a minor league deal.
"I don't think I would have signed another minor league deal and kept this going," the ex-Red Sox pitcher said during an appearance on "Foul Territory. "
Pomeranz ended up signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels that will pay him $4 million. Signing with the Angels allows the lefty pitcher to stay in California where his family is.
The 37-year-old had a strong 2025 season with the Chicago Cubs with a 2.17 ERA an 57 strikeouts in 49⅔ innings.
The 2025 season marked the first time Pomeranz pitched in the majors since 2021. He signed a minor league deal with the Angels ahead of the 2024 campaign, but was released at the end of spring training.
Pomeranz will enter his 13th MLB season. He spent three seasons with the Red Sox and won a World Series with the club in 2018 . He also pitched for the San Diego Padres , Colorado Rockies , Athletics, San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers .
