Former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho delivered a scathing assessment of the Dallas Cowboys' defense after its collapse against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8. His criticism followed a 33-30 overtime defeat that turned a comfortable lead into another damaging loss for the struggling team. The analyst said the performance was difficult to comprehend.
The defense appeared to be making progress early Sunday, limiting Arizona to a field goal in the first half and helping Dallas build a 17-3 advantage. The unit recorded two takeaways before halftime and generated pressure, giving the Cowboys a chance to control the game after the break. The first half offered a brief sign of progress.

That momentum disappeared in the second half, when the Cardinals erupted for 30 points and 286 yards. Running back Tyler Allgeier sparked the comeback with a 63-yard touchdown run and later broke loose for a 52-yard gain, exposing tackling and pursuit problems that had resurfaced throughout the season. Allgeier finished with 147 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Arizona also found success after switching quarterbacks, with Gardner Minshew replacing Jacoby Brissett late in the third quarter. Minshew completed 17 of 23 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns, including the late scoring pass to Michael Wilson that tied the game with six seconds remaining in regulation. Arizona mounted four straight scoring drives.
Former NFL Star Emmanuel Acho Reacts to Dallas Cowboys' Defense

Acho shared his thoughts about how Dallas has placed defense this season. This can be seen in a post he made on X.
"The Dallas Cowboys defense is an incomprehensible, unfathomable, utterly impossible, level of bad!" Acho wrote.
The defensive breakdown came despite several productive individual performances. Quinnen Williams finished with two sacks, while Von Miller, Donovan Ezeiruaku and James Houston each added one, but the pass rush could not consistently prevent explosive plays or keep the Cardinals from extending drives. The team allowed 467 total yards, including 202 on the ground. Five sacks could not offset the inability to stop the run.
Acho's remarks captured the frustration surrounding a unit that has struggled to sustain strong stretches of play. Dallas now sits at 3-5, with its latest defeat raising questions about the defense's reliability and the team's path forward as the season continues. The loss renewed questions about the defense's consistency. The comeback exposed missed tackles and failures to contain explosive plays throughout the game.
