San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee has been a solid producer for the club to begin the 2026 season. With the team set to take on the Miami Marlins on Saturday, manager Tony Vitello shared a bold prediction for Lee’s outlook for the rest of the campaign.
While talking with media members before the start of the game, Vitello claimed that he believes Lee can maintain his success at the plate, according to a San Francisco-based sports radio show on KNBR. Vitello even compared Lee to Ichiro Suzuki when discussing Lee’s presence in his at-bats.
“I think he’s gonna keep like this,” said Vitello about Lee… “I think he’s found a rhythm of who he is… He looked like his hero Ichiro just staying in line to the pitcher,” claimed Vitello about Lee’s base hit up the middle against the Marlins on Friday night.
Jung Hoo Lee, who is 28 years old , has looked stellar for the Giants recently. He’s recorded six hits in his last five games, resulting in one home run and two RBIs. The lone home run, along with three of his hits, came in the Giants’ 9-4 loss to the Marlins on Friday.
The three-year veteran enters Saturday’s contest with a .275 batting average and .320 OBP while totaling 25 hits, two home runs, and 10 RBIs.Tony Vitello has Lee hitting sixth in the order on Saturday, as the Giants aim to even up the three-game series.
Lee is in the third season of his six-year, $113 million contract, which he signed in December 2023. Look for San Francisco to continue relying on him throughout the 2026 campaign, as the Giants aim to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
