Tuesday night is going to be a special night for the Cleveland Guardians . Former No. 1 overall pick in the MLB Draft, Travis Bazzana, will debut for the Guardians against the Tampa Bay Rays . First pitch is at 6:10 ET, so it’s just over a few hours away. The Guardians are 15-15 so far this season, and are expected to make another to the postseason. Bazzana will help them get there.
Bazzana is the Guardians’ top prospect and is MLB’s No. 16 overall prospect. He will play second base for the Guardians, and that will likely be his position for the next decade+ if all goes well. Against the Rays on Tuesday night, the second baseman will bat seventh in the lineup for his MLB debut.
Ahead of his debut, Bazzana revealed a message from Jose Ramirez during spring training last month.
“Bazzana, you’re ready.”
This happened after batting practice, and as the post says, we will see if Ramirez ends up being right.
During minor league play at the Triple-A level, Bazzana slashed a line of 287/.422/.511 (.933 OPS) across 24 games. He smashed two home runs, 11 doubles, and two triples. There is no doubt that the Australian native is ready to make a splash in Cleveland.
In the first game of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, Australia and Chinese Taipei opened the games, and Bazzana smashed a monster home run that gave off massive vibes. Even though they didn’t make the knockout stages, that home run was one of the best moments of the entire tournament, and it happened in the first game.
Get ready to enjoy the show, Guardians fans.
