Former Howard University track standout Darci Khan has announced that she is leaving WWE, saying she made the difficult decision to prioritize her mental health after months of struggling with depression and anxiety. Khan, who performed under the ring name Masyn Holiday, revealed her departure in a video posted to Instagram, explaining that although she appreciated her time with WWE, she ultimately realized the career was no longer aligned with her purpose.
"I left the WWE, y'all. I did. I was very, very, very, very, very extremely unhappy at that job," Khan said. "My depression and anxiety [were] at an all-time high. [I] Lost myself. Like, I would look at myself in the mirror and didn't even know who I was anymore. It was that bad. I cried for months straight."
Khan emphasized that her decision was not intended as criticism of WWE or the people she worked alongside.
"I'm not saying the WWE is bad. I'm not bashing nobody at WWE. Love the people down. But it's just for me and my purpose on this earth, it just wasn't aligning at all."
She explained that the decision ultimately came after a conversation with one of her coaches, who recognized she was no longer passionate about professional wrestling.
"And she was like, 'In this business, you have to love it. You have to want it. It has to be in your heart.' And I've always known that it wasn't in my heart," Khan said.
Khan added that she believes her future lies in education and using her artistic talents to teach others.
"I do know that God is leading me into the path of teaching," she said. "I have a YouTube channel right now… and I just teach you guys how I paint."
Before pursuing a career in professional wrestling, Khan established herself as one of the most decorated student-athletes in Howard University history. After beginning her collegiate career at Kentucky, she transferred to Howard, where she became a three-time MEAC champion, set multiple school records in the hurdles, won the prestigious Penn Relays 100-meter hurdles title and competed at both the NCAA Championships and the USA Championships.
Her accomplishments extended beyond athletics. Khan graduated from Howard as the university's 2024 valedictorian with a degree in art/studio painting, balancing elite track and field competition with a rigorous academic workload.
WWE signed Khan through its Next In Line (NIL) program in late 2023, making her one of the few HBCU athletes to join the company's collegiate recruiting pipeline. During her developmental run, she competed on WWE EVOLVE , wrestled in NXT dark matches and appeared on WWE: Legends & Future Greats . Her final televised WWE match came on the June 7 episode of LFG, where she defeated PJ Vasa.
