- James Hagens joining Team USA with Bruins season over
After sitting the last three games of the Bruins’ first-round series with Buffalo, James Hagens’ season isn’t over after all.
According to Mark Divver, who covers the Providence Bruins and Bruins prospects for the New England Hockey Journal, Hagens will head to Switzerland to play for Team USA in the IIHF World Championships.

Jeremy Swayman , Mason Lohrei and Andrew Peeke led the Americans to gold at that tournament last year.
This will be the fifth team Hagens has played for this season. Hagens, who played for Boston College during the 2025-26 season, joined Team USA for the World Junior Championship in December. After finishing the season at BC, he turned pro and played with the P-Bruins before joining Boston for the final two games of the regular season and the playoffs.
Hagens played in the first three games of the series vs. Buffalo. He was solid in Games 1 and 2 and inconsistent in Game 3. Marco Sturm replaced him for Games 4 and 5. He had no points in three postseason games and one assist in five career NHL games.
