BATON ROUGE — As the piercing song from roughly 9,000 school-aged kids rained down onto court in reverberation, LSU women's basketball built a comfortable lead early.
Thanks to their distinct size advantage, the Tigers fed the post and Morgan State had no answer. LSU forwards Kate Koval , Grace Knox , ZaKiyah Johnson and Amiya Joyner combined for 11 of 18 from the floor and put up 33 points and 24 rebounds.
LSU cruised to a 91-33 victory Tuesday in its first home game inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in nearly a month. For the third time under head coach Kim Mulkey, the Tigers have won their first 12 games of the season.

Working the ball inside paid off in a number of ways for LSU (12-0) as it got Morgan State in foul trouble before halftime. LSU put up 46 points in the paint.
LSU's defense got better as the game progressed as well. Morgan State (1-12) had as many turnovers as points (8) in the third period and did not score double digits in any quarter. For the game, the Tigers forced 24 turnovers and limited to 25% from the field.
The Bears also couldn't slow down LSU star guard Mikaylah Williams either. She knocked down a 3-pointer on the game's opening possession just 5 seconds into the game, and she stayed hot from there.
Williams, who shot 5 of 7 for the game, and fellow star Flau'jae Johnson paced all scorers with 14 points. MiLaysia Fulwiley finished with 11 points and Knox had 10.

LSU's second group has found more success on big ends of the floor, led by Koval and Fulwiley, who just hit a runner in the lane to cap a demonstrative opening period for the Tigers.

Tigers are starting to assert themselves inside with Kate Koval and Grace Knox. Morgan State can't match their size and LSU's second group is wanting to bully the Bears in the paint.
LSU already has 16 points in the paint.
LSU star junior guard Mikaylah Williams has come out and drained a pair of 3's in the first two minutes of this game, including on the game-opening possession.
Morgan State has left her open behind the arc and Williams is taking advantage.
LSU has also opened this game in a full-court press. Looks like Kim Mulkey wants to give it some reps today.
