The Seattle Mariners are set to play the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night. Before the game, it was announced that Cal Raleigh is returning to the lineup after he missed three games due to an injury. Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reported the news .
“ Cal Raleigh (right side soreness) is back in the Mariners’ lineup tonight after missing three games. He’s batting second and at DH,” Kramer wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
The Mariners have understandably proceeded with caution when it comes to Raleigh’s injury status. The fact that he is playing on Tuesday is important, though, as it means he will not require a stint on the injured list.
The 29-year-old was an All-Star in 2025 and he finished second in American League MVP voting after crushing 60 home runs. He has struggled so far in 2026, though. Raleigh is hitting just .186/.272/.380 across 33 games played. The star catcher has hit seven home runs, but his overall production has been underwhelming. Nevertheless, he features the talent of one of the best players in baseball when he is on top of his game.
Seattle certainly needs Raleigh in the lineup. While the Mariners were able to defeat the Braves on Monday by a final score of 5-4, it has been an overall inconsistent campaign for the ball club. They are 17-19 and in second place in the American League West standings heading into Tuesday’s contest.
The Mariners will attempt to clinch a series victory and a second consecutive win on Tuesday night against the Braves at 6:40 PM EST.
