The Patriots were buzzing after their 16-3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Wild Card game , and Mike Vrabel made sure to give his team their flowers.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am to sit here and be your coach. You guys have worked so hard for this opportunity,” the coach said in the locker room after the game . “Enjoy it. We said all along you have to be willing to spill some blood, and the big dogs come out in January. ( Milton Williams ) came over there and knocked the living (expletive) out of them. But I ain’t afraid to spill a little blood either.”
Williams continued to prove he was worth the $104 million the Patriots paid him in the offseason. The defensive tackle had two sacks, three total tackles, two quarterback hits and two tackles for loss in the win that advanced New England to the AFC Division game.
He also bloodied accidentally Vrabel on the sideline when he headbutted his coach with his helmet.
“I was just turnt. It was pure emotion. I think I headbutted everybody,” Williams said . “I forgot Vrabes ain’t had no helmet on.”
The Patriots now wait for the winner of Monday’s Houston Texans-Pittsburgh Steelers game.
“What we’re gonna do, we’re gonna figure out who we play next, and we’re gonna prepare, we’re gonna get healthy, pick up the pieces, give you a plan,” Vrabel told his team . “Go enjoy it. Because what you guys have done, you believed and you trusted in the identity. I want you guys to enjoy every minute of this (expletive), because it sure beats going on (expletive) vacation.”
