The Vegas Golden Knights are out to a good start in their Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Anaheim Ducks . Vegas has a 1-0 lead, after defeating Anaheim 3-1 on Monday. Despite the win, Golden Knights winger Mitch Marner is looking for more with his team's play.
"I don't think anyone in that locker room is satisfied with that win," Marner said, per NHL.com. "We know we can play a lot better. I don't think we got to our game at all. We gave them some good looks, and Carter made some massive saves."
Marner scored an empty-net goal to help seal the win for his team. It was a key win for Vegas, as the team was playing at home to open the series.
"It's Game 1. It is (about) which team finds its game the quickest that has the advantage," Golden Knights coach John Tortorella said. "We're fortunate. Fortunate that we found a way to win. They played well. Some of it had to do with them. They played well, but we have some things to work on."
Marner finished the game with two points. He also posted an assist, by sending the puck to Brett Howden who scored a goal in the second period.
"I was just looking at Mitch right away," Howden said. "He made a great play. I was kind of behind the play, and I could feel that he knew I was coming late. I was going to get there a bit earlier, and he waited it out, and I just tried driving back away."
Game 2 of this series is on Wednesday in Las Vegas. The Golden Knights skated past the Utah Mammoth in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
