It's been a rocky run for Oklahoma State football over the last few years - there wasn't a win over an FBS team last season - but the 2026 Cowboy schedule should help with the transition.
But under new head coach Eric Morris there's a new energy, a high-octane offense, and things should be better fast with this slate.

The Good
As long as the Cowboys beat Tulsa this year, they should at least double their 2025 win total by Week 4. There's no Arizona , BYU , or Utah to face, the Texas Tech game is in Stillwater, and …

The Bad
Oregon comes to town in Week 2. Oklahoma State should be better, but it won't be up to speed quite yet to deal with THAT. A run of three road games in four weeks, and with six road games overall, there's a lot of time away from Boone Pickens.
What Big 12 Teams Oklahoma State Will Miss
Missing: Arizona, Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati
, TCU
, Utah.
This isn't bad. Not having to play BYU or Utah is massive, and missing Arizona and TCU should be a huge plus.
Oklahoma State's Best and Worst Case Scenarios in 2026
Best Case: The Cowboys win the home games
Taking out Oregon and Texas Tech might be a bit idealistic, but at least they're at home. However, the other four home dates are against teams that didn't go bowling, and the season opener at Tulsa is like a home game.

Worst Case: The road games are too tough
At least before seeing everything come into place, the Cowboys will likely be underdogs in all five Big 12 road games. They get past one of the conference trips, but Oregon and Texas Tech losses keep OSU from going bowling.

Games That Will Decide Oklahoma State's Season
1. Oct. 17, at Houston.If the Cowboys can get by this, there's a chance to get through the first half of the season with a bowl game still in the mix.
2. Oct. 31, at Iowa State.The first of a run of three road games in four weeks, it would be a huge help to pull this off with a date at Kansas State next.
3. Sept. 12, Oregon.69-3. Last year's Week 2 date in Eugene was the moment when everyone realized that, no, Oklahoma State wasn't going to turn things around. This will be the measuring stick to see where the team is at early on under Morris.
