- One sleeper to watch in each position group on the Vikings' defense
Training camp is where defensive depth becomes more than a list of names.
The Minnesota Vikings have established pieces across Brian Flores' defense, but every summer creates opportunities for under-the-radar players to push for roles. Some are fighting for roster spots. Others are trying to become trusted reserves. A few are attempting to show they can help on special teams while developing into bigger defensive contributors.

Here is one sleeper to watch in each Vikings defensive position group.
Cornerback: Charles Demmings
Demmings enters camp as an intriguing cornerback to monitor because Minnesota always needs depth at one of football's most demanding positions. Cornerback battles often come down to consistency, tackling and special teams value as much as coverage flashes, and Demmings can help himself by showing he can hold up when preseason reps increase.
For a young defensive back, the quickest path to attention is simple: compete at the catch point, avoid assignment mistakes and prove he can handle multiple coverages. In Flores' system, versatility and confidence matter. If Demmings shows both, he could make the cornerback competition more interesting.

Defensive line: Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
Ingram-Dawkins brings a developmental profile worth watching on the defensive line. The Vikings need rotational linemen who can handle physical early-down work while still offering enough disruption to stay on the field in different packages.
His camp will be about proving he can play with consistent leverage, hold up against the run and create push when given pass-rush opportunities. Defensive line depth matters over a 17-game season, and Ingram-Dawkins has a chance to show he can become more than a camp body.
Linebacker: Jake Golday
Golday is the linebacker sleeper because the middle of the defense requires trust. Backup linebackers must communicate, fit the run correctly, cover enough space, and contribute heavily on special teams. That gives Golday a clear path to making an impression if he can play fast and avoid mental errors.

The Vikings do not need every reserve linebacker to become a starter. They need dependable players who can function in sub packages, handle emergency snaps and become core special teamers. Golday's ability to prove that reliability will determine how seriously he pushes for a role.
Outside linebacker: Arden Walker
Walker is the edge sleeper to track because outside linebackers in Flores' defense can earn attention quickly. Pressure packages, simulated looks and rotational pass-rush snaps give young edge defenders chances to flash, especially in preseason games.
Walker's challenge will be to show he can do more than just chase quarterbacks. He must set the edge, play with discipline and prove he can be trusted when offenses run at him. If he combines physicality with pass-rush juice, he could force the Vikings to take a longer look.

Safety: Theo Jackson
Jackson is the most experienced name on this list, which makes his sleeper case different. He has been around the Vikings' system and understands the value of defensive back versatility, special teams, and communication. That experience could matter in a secondary where depth and package flexibility are always important.
Safeties who can contribute in multiple roles tend to stick around. Jackson can help himself by showing he can play deep, handle box responsibilities, match up in coverage and remain reliable on special teams. If he does that, he could be more than a depth piece.
The Vikings' defensive stars will get most of the attention entering camp, but Flores' system depends on depth, versatility and role players who can execute specific assignments. Demmings, Ingram-Dawkins, Golday, Walker and Jackson each have a different path to relevance.

If one or two emerge, Minnesota's defensive depth chart could look stronger than expected by the end of preseason.
