On Thursday night, former linebacker and Carolina Panthers legend Luke Kuechly was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's 2026 class. He—alongside quarterback Drew Brees , running back Roger Craig, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and kicker Adam Vinatieri—will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio this summer.
But maybe, just maybe, Luke will also be joined by an old friend in 2027.
Among next year's first-time eligibles for the Hall of Fame will be fellow franchise great and former Panthers quarterback Cam Newton . Newton and Kuechly played together in Carolina for eight seasons, where they led the organization to three straight NFC South titles from 2013 to 2015 as well as their second-ever Super Bowl appearance.
Newton stacked up a number of individual hall-worthy accolades as well. He was named the 2011 Offensive Rookie of the Year, the 2015 Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year and collected a first-team All-Pro nod and three Pro Bowl selections.
While Newton hasn't officially retired , he's now been out of the game for four years. 2027 will mark his fifth, and will begin the clock on his eligibility.
