The New England Patriots made a couple of changes to their practice squad roster on Monday. They announced that they have signed guard Mehki Butler to the practice squad and released Bill Murray in a corresponding move.
Butler was initially signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Arkansas State back in May. He signed to the practice squad on August 27 and was released on September 11. He played two seasons of college football at Iowa Western before transferring to Arkansas State for his final four seasons of play.
Murray was a long-standing member of the practice squad. He was originally signed by the organization as a rookie free agent out of William & Mary as a defensive lineman in 2020.
He converted to the offensive line for the 2022 season and was elevated to the active roster for three games. He also spent time with the Chicago Bears , where he was released in September.
The Patriots have been hit by the injury bug with multiple injuries along the offensive line. However, they did receive some positive news on Monday with their starting left guard, Jared Wilson, returning to practice after missing last week with an ankle injury.
