Pitt linebacker Kyle Louis was flawless during position drills at his pro day last week. The East Orange, New Jersey native opted not to run a 40-yard dash after recording an impressive 4.53-second time at the NFL Combine.
ESPN analyst and former NFL executive Louis Riddick gave Louis a ringing endorsement, comparing him to a Hall of Fame linebacker.
"Going to keep saying it…in a world where everyone wants a "comp", this young man is gonna be like the great LB Derrick Brooks," Riddick wrote on X.
Louis, a second-team All-ACC honoree last season, is a standout athlete who was tasked with an unusual role within the Panthers' defense. He totaled 81 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and two interceptions during that campaign.
Louis was named a second-team Associated Press All-American in 2024 after piling up 101 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and four interceptions.
Louis had a pre-draft visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on March 19. With the uncertainty surrounding Patrick Queen 's future, Louis could be on the Steelers' radar.
"It was definitely great," Louis told Nick Farabaugh of PennLive . "I'm already familiar with the area, but I've never been on that side. Being on that side and seeing all these new coaches, talking to my linebackers coach, it was a great time."
"Seeing from the other side, they do actually pay attention to a lot of Pitt players and show love to us," Louis said. "I never really noticed back when I was focused on the next college football game. It's a good thing to notice."
