During yesterday's Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox contest, Boston star Jarren Duran flipped the bird to a fan who was being disrespectful about Duran's past.
This is not the first time this has happened. Duran clearly does not respect fans who bring up his past. Red Sox manager Alex Cora shared a statement about Duran and the incident, via Ian Browne. It's a lengthy quote.
"We always talk, and it sucks that it happened. And that people take this window to be freaking assholes, right? I know the Twins are all over the case and trying to find out who he was, and hopefully, they find the person. And that was probably the last, if they find it, it's probably the last big league game that that person is going to attend. But, you know, we have Jarren's back. Like I said last year, for him to open up, he saved lives. And people have their opinion about his reaction.
We always talk to him, and tell him that we're here for him and we're going to support him, and just to let us know what's going on. And it's not easy. It's not easy because, like he said, we're in the business of winning games, and he doesn't want to be a distraction. And he's not a distraction. He's not. He's just a player that plays for the Red Sox and has our full support."
It's great to see the manager and team have his back because Duran is clearly an emotional player who thrives during big moments. He's gotten off to a slow start in 2026. After getting a reminder from his manager and team that they will always support him, maybe this reminder is what he needed to get back on track. Boston needs Duran to get back to being one of the best hitters in the league.
