The Buffalo Sabres were unable to eliminate the Boston Bruins at home in Game 5 of their first-round series, but they will try to get the job done in Boston in Game 6. The Sabres are making a change to their lineup as Josh Norris returns to action after being sidelined earlier in the series, and he will take the place of youngster Noah Ostlund .
Norris is expected to man the center position on the Sabres' third line as he returns from a minor injury. Ostlund is out after sustaining a lower-body injury in Game 5.
Head coach Lindy Ruff is hoping that the Norris line can find some success against the Bruins. "For a period of time, that line was really good for us," Ruff said , per Sabres.com. "Put him back in his spot after he had a great practice today, skated really well, feeling really good. It's an opportunity where a guy like Norrie can just step up, and he could be a big difference maker for us."
The first five games of the series have been road-oriented. The Sabres registered a comeback victory at home in Game 1, but the road team has won the next four games.
If that trend continues at TD Garden Friday night, the Sabres will eliminate the Bruins in six games. The Bruins were one of the strongest home teams in the NHL during the regular season, but they have struggled at home in recent postseason games. They are just 3-10 in their last 13 playoff games at home.
David Pastrnak extended the series for the Bruins when he scored in overtime in Game 5, taking a pass from defenseman Hampus Lindholm and beating Buffalo goalie Alex Lyon on a breakaway.
