Mike McCarthy and the Pittsburgh Steelers are adding someone else familiar with Western Pennsylvania, as Mike Garafolo reported they agreed to terms with safety Jaquan Brisker on Thursday.
Brisker, who turns 27 next month, spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Chicago Bears , starting all 52 games he played for them. He racked up four interceptions and 342 total tackles during that span.
Brisker played high school football at Gateway High School in Monroeville, then starred collegiately at Lackawanna and Penn State before being selected in the second round (No. 48 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Brisker joins a Steelers safety room that includes DeShon Elliott , Jalen Ramsey , Sebastian Castro and Darnell Savage . Savage also agreed to a free-agent deal with the Steelers earlier this week after spending time last season with the Buffalo Bills , Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Commanders .
Brisker played in 34 games with the Nitanny Lions, starting 21 of them. He had 153 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions, 14 pass breakups and a fumble recovery during his time in Happy Valley. CBS Sports/247Sports, On3 and Pro Football Focus named him a first-team All-American in 2021.
The Steelers also added now-former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean in free agency earlier this week.
