Over the last two days, rumors have been heating up that the Golden State Warriors could be a possible landing spot for LeBron James should he depart the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency. On Tuesday, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported that James will indeed be leaving Los Angeles after spending eight seasons there.
Predictably, the Warriors rumors heated up even more as a result of that announcement, with fans on X , formerly Twitter, gearing up for James' possible arrival in the Bay Area.
"Would slot in nicely as a defacto Andre Iguodala/Shaun Livingston," wrote one fan, referencing two members of the Warriors' dynastic run.
"The Warriors might go from Steph & friends to Steph, LeBron, Yaxel, and AD. Wow," wrote another.
Meanwhile, fans of other teams weighed in on the sweepstakes.
"I think there's a small chance Miami could land LeBron. But I think it's all about Warriors," wrote one fan of the Miami Heat .
James faced off against the Warriors in four straight NBA Finals when he was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2010s, but the prospect of him teaming up with long-time adversaries Stephen Curry and Draymond Green in the Bay Area has become increasingly realistic over the last couple of seasons, as the Lakers have started to plateau and shifted their focus to building a team around Luka Doncic .
Meanwhile, the Warriors have also hit a bit of a roadblock in their quest to reignite their dynasty, and adding James to the mix would certainly help make things more interesting, if nothing else.
