After the way his team played in Tuesday’s 6-2 loss to Dallas , Bruins coach Marco Sturm was glad that the final score was decisive.
He didn’t want his team to think it had almost played well enough or to harvest silver linings from it.
“That’s something we have to learn from. That’s a playoff team. They’re willing to play that kind of style of game. Just grind it out and stick with it,” Sturm said. “We didn’t do it. We were still playing cute right to the end. You cannot play that way. You have to learn from it. If it’s a tight game, you can say ‘Oh, we were right there.’ No, we were not. That shows us. We have to play that style of game too.
“We have to play better without the puck,” he added. “The (penalty kill) has to be a lot better. We can’t give up a goal every game.”
Dallas scored on two of its three power plays and outshot the Bruins 34-18 overall.
Hampus Lindholm said Jeremy Swayman , who was pulled at the beginning of the third period, deserved better
“We left Sway out to dry. He kept us in there for longer than we deserved,” Lindholm said. “We shot ourselves in the foot tonight.”
The Bruins are back in action Thursday against the Golden Knights, who are in first place in the Pacific Division. Sturm was eager to see how they reacted.
“ Vegas is the same kind of style. Same system,” he said. “Are we willing to play that kind of game? We have to go back to work.”
