The Philadelphia Phillies suffered a 4-0 loss to the Miami Marlins on Saturday, making it the 20th loss of the season for the club. Before the contest, however, the club decided to scratch Justin Crawford from the lineup.
Reports indicate that the 22-year-old outfielder was removed from the Phillies’ lineup due to a migraine issue , according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. The Phillies ended up using a makeshift group in the outfield, as Brandon Marsh was also unavailable.
“Justin Crawford has been scratched from the Phillies lineup because of a migraine. Garrett Stubbs will start in LF, Adolis Garcia in CF, and Felix Reyes in RF. Brandon Marsh got drilled on the right elbow last night, so he’s unavailable.”
This was just the fifth game Crawford has missed this season. It doesn’t appear to be a serious situation, and the Phillies’ rookie should bounce back relatively soon. It may have been the perfect game for him to miss, as the team recorded just one single hit throughout the entire game against the Marlins on Saturday.
While many are excited about the future for Justin Crawford, he is still very much developing his game at the major league level. Through 93 at-bats, Crawford has recorded 25 hits, zero home runs, and six RBIs, giving him a .269 batting average and .340 OBP.
Philadelphia is now 1-1 against Miami in the four-game series. The Phillies will have a chance to get back in the win column on Sunday when they face off against the Marlins at 1:40 p.m. EST.
