- Did Alabama basketball fly or fall in polls after win vs Illinois in C.M. Newton Classic?
The polls didn't trend in the favor of Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide after last week's ranked win over Illinois .
After taking a loss to now-No. 12 Purdue in its first road game of the season, UA dropped from No. 2 in the nation to No. 7 in the last release of the coaches poll.
This week, Alabama (4-1) fell two spots from No. 7 to No. 9 with its 100-87 victory against the Fighting Illini in the C.M. Newton Classic . Illinois (4-1) dropped out of the poll from No. 20 following the outcome of last Wednesday's performance.
The No. 1 spot remains with Kansas , who took 25 of 31 first-place votes, while another undefeated squad in rival Auburn stays at No. 3.
A trip to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Players Era Festival will give UA a few more opportunities to work its way back up to seventh in the country, or better, starting with a Tuesday matchup against No. 7 Houston, up one spot after defeating Hofstra last Friday, at 7 p.m. CT.
