The Chicago Bears have set their 53-man roster.
Let's talk about some of my top takeaways after the Bears officially trimmed down the roster for the 2026 NFL season.
Nicholas Moriano here from Roundtable Sports.
Let's get into some of the just cutting ties with old players and some fairly new.
Let's go with Karan Amagaji, 2024 third round draft pick.
Chicago Bears finally cut ties with him after you didn't, you didn't really see much from Amagaji, who could have made the most of his opportunities at the left tackle position, considering the Bears were trying to find somebody to play that spot, but he wasn't healthy enough.
There's been times where in, in last season, where he couldn't even make the active roster on game days, but Karan Amagaji did not do enough to deserve to be on this roster, and he no longer is.
You have former first-round draft pick Jedrik Wills Jr.
He was released with an injury settlement.
Very similar story to Amagaji.
Didn't make the most of his opportunities preseason or in the training camp practices.
They didn't leave the Bears with a clear indication that he should be on the roster, and again, he isn't.
Ruben Hippolyte II, he was also somebody that was just drafted, fourth round 2025.
He was released with an injury designation, meaning if he cleared waivers, he would return to the Bears on IR.
That's exactly what happened on Monday, but kind of shows you what the Bears think of the Bears linebacker who they just selected, cornerback Terrell Smith.
He was a 2023 fifth round pick.
You know, he made some good plays in the preseason finale against the Titans, but he was ultimately waived in some of the cutdowns that happened.
But there's four undrafted rookies that made this roster, one of them being Hayden Larga, the undrafted free agent out of Iowa.
Made the most of his opportunities, but he's also somebody that got injured in last Tuesday's training camp practice at Halas Hall.
We'll see if he ends up on IR.
You have defensive tackle Jayden Loving, plays with high motor.
I remember the practice where he went up, went one-on-one with Bears second round draft pick Logan Jones.
Won both of those reps back-to-back, got in a little shoving match, but he made a great impression on the Bears coaching staff.
You have Jemery Chroma, the defensive end who balled out against the Cleveland Browns in that preseason game, but he makes the roster and so did safety Skyler Thomas, a, a, a guy that made the most of being, you know, in the secondary when all the guys were injured at that point in time.
And then you also have the long snapper Gardner who beat out Luke Elkin, in camp to be the long snapper for the season.
But those are just some of my top takeaways.
