The wait is over as the Colts have finally filled a void in their wide receiver room after coming to terms, per Jordan Schultz, with six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen.
This is a move that a lot of Colts fans have been waiting on.
There were rumblings, rumors, hearsay.
Finally gets done, one-year deal worth up to $8.32 million, and I think it's a great fit for the Indianapolis Colts, not just because you're reuniting Keenan Allen with Shane Steichen, who both were with the Los Angeles Chargers, Steichen helping bring quarterback Justin Herbert into relevancy.
I think it's a great move because Keenan Allen, he might not be a one-for-one direct replacement for Michael Pittman Jr., but he's gonna fill a void that was left behind by that MPJ trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers because he's gonna come in, he's gonna do the dirty work.
He's gonna be the Z wide receiver.
He's gonna run those in cuts, those in breakers, digs, posts, drags, you name it.
He's gonna do the dirty work, and that's what the Indianapolis Colts really need.
They have their slot wide receiver in Josh Downs.
Of course, you're waiting with bated breath to see that Alec Pierce will be ready for the opener after we saw him working on his ankle over the weekend.
He's gonna be your X wide receiver, that guy who's gonna take the top off the defense, that boundary player.
Who's gonna be the guy that's gonna run the routes over the middle of the field?
That is now Keenan Allen.
And in all, if you look at this Indianapolis Colts offense, you got Jonathan Taylor in the backfield, you got Tyler Warren at tight end, and you have a three-headed monster at wide receiver that's pretty good.
As long as Keenan Allen is healthy and can live up to what he's done in recent years, even if it's not him in his prime anymore, paired with Josh Downs and a healthy Alec Pierce, and suddenly this offense, if Daniel Jones plays the way he did for the first seven, eight games of the season, this offense could look pretty good under Shane Steichen.
So all in all, I think it's a good move by the Indianapolis Colts.
Solves a major weakness, fills a major void on their offense.
I like it for the Colts.
