'GMFB' reacts to Rams naming 11 players as captains for 2026 season
"Good Morning Football" provides their assessment on the Los Angeles Rams having 11 captains for the 2026 NFL season.
Video Transcript
That's the team captains photo, and it looks like that selfie that Ellen took at the Oscars.
You can't even fit every captain in the same picture.
What we have there is Matthew Stafford, Karen Williams, Davante Adams, Tyler Higbee, Captain Coleman Shelton, Captain Coby Turner, Captain Miles Garrett, Captain Nate Landman, Captain Trent McDuffie, Captain Quenton Lake, Captain Joe Cardona, the, incredible, the, bringing up the rear, the long snapper.
Also, I don't know if this made the full screen, the Rams have named Isaac Bruce a captain, trunk candidate Adam Archuleta, Yo Murphy, Tavon Austin, Jeromiestus Butler.
Any Rams are eligible.
They named also some Colorado State Rams to be captains.
They named Randy the Ram, Mickey Rourke, he's a captain.
Ram from the Chronicles of Narnia, he's a captain.
Anyone who's sign is Aries the Ram, you're a captain, and if you drive a Dodge Ram, congratulations, you are also a team captain for the 2026 Rams.
Guys, what you're looking at there, 21% of the Rams players are captains.
I'm talking about the whole roster.
50% of the Ram starters, in a sense, are captains.
If you're not named captain, don't you have to wonder, "What the hell did I do wrong?"
Or maybe you notice another guy who's not captain.
Aaron Donald is not a captain, an all-time iconic Ram and a Super Bowl champion, not a captain.
My sources tell me, and I've been looking into this, it's just because they ran out of Cs.
The seamstress in the uniform department, she's like, "I can't sew anything more of these.
I, I'm done.
I have to make a special order to get another C to put on anybody else's jersey.
We even had to borrow some from the Chargers and dye them into our yellow."
they should make things easier for the officials and the fans.
The Rams should be the first team whose players wear patches when they're not captains.
An NC patch that stands for not captain with stars beneath it for how many years you've not been a captain in the league.
They have so many captains that the Rams need ca- a captain of the captains just to keep control of the captains.
Are there vice captains?
We need law and order here because the coin toss is gonna look like a class field trip.
The Rams captains will have to walk to midfield like preschoolers holding the safety rope so they don't wander off.
The referee's gonna be like, "All right, Rams, we need the captains."
And they're like, "Well, which captains?"
"All of them."
"Oh, man, that's gonna, that's gonna take a minute.
Give us some time.
We gotta round everybody up."
And it just, it reminds me of this picture, and I bet you can relate.
It reminds me if you go to a wedding.
You go to a wedding, and there are 11 bridesmaids.
11.
It kind of waters down the honor, doesn't it?
You're not exactly one of the ride or dies or day ones for the bride when you're standing up there in the heat next to Madison, Addison, Haley, Kaylee, Kylie, Riley, Kirsten, Kiersten, Kristen, Brinley, Tinley, Kinley, and Zinley.
Hey, brighten the bride.
I know you don't want to hurt any feelers, and you take, had to take on the groom's three sisters as well.
But there are more people up at the altar than there are in the audience.
Kick some of those gals down to usher.
They might actually like it, and you'll save them the trip to David's Bridal.
It's okay.
I propose to cap wedding parties at six a side and NFL team captains at three.
Every coach in history will tell you there are three phases to the game: offense, defense, special teams.
Should be a captain for each phase.
Offensive captain, defensive captain, special teams captain, and we're out.
It's an incredible thing that we're showing these pictures as it relates to the Rams.
We will find out, my friends, in six months if the Rams are champions, but we know in August they are all captains, and I've never seen anything like it.
You have, you have 11 captains.
My first question is- Yeah are all 11 going out for the coin toss?
I, I- No, they have to go in shifts.
Like, it's No, sometimes they have the three that comes out or the four.
And then they have that line in the back- Yeah that just stands there, and you're like, "What are you guys doing?"
Mm-hmm.
Like, just send one guy out.
It's, it's like in, in college basketball particularly when, like, if a kid is from, like, New Hampshire, but he's playing for Minnesota, the Gophers will go play at UNH just to get that kid a home game- Yeah, yeah, yeah in front of his home crowd.
Like, if Stafford goes and plays a game at the Falcons, they're like, "You know what, Stafford?
You go out for the coin toss today- "You're, you're Yes because you probably have some hometown people here that want to see you."
Right.
You know what I mean, Willie?
Yeah.
It, it's weird.
I can't imagine how long that handshake for the captain toss is gonna be.
Like, all 11 guys have to stand in line.
And it's, "All right, all right.
Nice to meet you.
Good to Yeah, okay.
Good.
Yep.
Call me in off."
Like, it's too long.
Too many guys.
Oh my gosh.
I'm with KB.
There's a offensive captain, there's a defensive captain, a special teams captain.
That's it.
That's it.
At this point, you might as well give the mascot a C. Cut, cut.
So it's, it's too much
