Kyle Crabbs explains why De'Von Achane could thrive in Miami's new offense.

Video Transcript

So let me give you my take on this question right here from fantasy points.

What are the odds that Davone Achan leads the Dolphins in targets in twenty twenty-six?

And let me know in the comments if you think Davone Achan will finish as the target leader for the Miami Dolphins in twenty twenty-six.

My answer is no, but I do think Davone Achan is going to experience a bit of a renaissance as a pass catcher in twenty twenty-six without the Mike McDaniel influence in the offense and Bobby Slowik putting his imprint on what the things the Dolphins are doing offensively.

This offense, amidst the personnel changes and Slowik, feels like it's gonna be a bit more of a downhill run game with a bit more of a vertical emphasis in the passing game with their play action passing down the field.

That can create some lift if you have speedsters who can run down the field, which the Dolphins have targeted in the NFL draft courtesy of Chris Bell and Caleb Douglas, and if Tutu Atwell makes the team.

Guys that can at least create some spacing down the field, right?

And then you have Malik Willis, a quarterback, and his ability to move off his spot and extend plays, which is very different from what the Dolphins have had in recent years.

No shade.

That, I think, gives Achan the opportunity for checkdowns.

That gives him the opportunity to have more space to run with the ball in his hands after the catch, but not necessarily have manufactured touches that are happening three, four, five yards behind the line of scrimmage at such a high clip like he has had in the past few seasons.

I also think twenty-eight's gonna get more option routes out of the backfield and angular routes that are caught just a few pas-- yards past the line of scrimmage.

And if Davone Achan gets those things, even if he doesn't end up leading the team in targets, I think he will be a much more productive player in the passing game on a per target basis because he won't have to work as hard to get back to the line of scrimmage with the ball in his hands
