RB Love still a 'value' player despite injury

Kyle Dvorchak breaks down why despite Cardinal's running back Jeremiah Love's preseason ankle injury, he is 'still a value' pick for fantasy draft.

Espn's Adam Schefter reports Jeremiah Love suffered a high ankle sprain in the Cardinals preseason game against the Raiders.

Love touched the ball 14 times in this game.

He looked good.

He turned that workload into 73 yards from scrimmage.

After the game, head coach Mike LaFleur said the ankle issue wasn't serious.

He even said that he could have reentered the game if he had needed to do so, but it was just a preseason game.

Love then shows up to practice in the coming days, and he's more sore than expected.

They do some testing, and they call it a high ankle sprain.

I'd say that's a pretty awful outcome for a rookie, especially when there was absolutely no need to give this guy 14 touches in a preseason game.

The silver lining is that according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the team is still hopeful that he plays in week one.

I do think he's pretty much done for the preseason at this point, maybe as he should've been the whole time, but this will be the last we see of him, hopefully until just week one, maybe a little longer than that.

I will add that among all the players who could suffer an early high ankle sprain, the young rookie running back with not a lot of tread on his tires, he was committee back in college, is I guess the player you would want it to happen to the most, not that you ever actually want it to happen.

But it's not like he's unathletic.

It's not like he's this veteran with a lot of tread on his tires.

He should be able to rebound this, rebound from this particularly well.

I know he's gonna fall in drafts.

I thought he was a good pick at the two-three turn.

He's going to fall well into the third round.

Maybe he even makes it to the three-four turn.

For me, that will still be a value, even if you are taking on admittedly more risk with this ankle injury
