Marietta Museum of Art and Whimsy

An art museum where you will laugh, smile and be amused, that's what Marietta Museum of Art & Whimsy is all about. Created to be a happy place, it is the brainchild of Marietta Lee and opened its doors in 2010. This seasonal museum highlights whimsical art form through its paintings, stained glass and sculptures. As you stroll through the galleries and sculpture garden, you will feel as if you are in a whimsical place such as Alice in Wonderland or Peter Pan's Neverland. Though it is not a children's museum, it is a fabulous place for everyone who is a child at heart. The facade belies the eclectic and playfulness of its interiors, so don't go by the cover of this museum. Winged pigs, huge pink flamingos, a rocket ship made of stainless steel, decorative flamingos and more will amaze you at not only the whimsy of the artist but also of the creativity of its execution. Check out the museum's workshops and classes if want to learn this type of art form. Though there is no admission price, a donation of 5USD is appreciated.

Thomsen Fine Art

Thomsen Fine Art is led by director Colin Thomsen, whose lifelong connection to the art world shapes the gallery’s vision and standards. Raised between England and the United States, Colin’s mid-Atlantic background gives him a broad perspective on art, culture, and craftsmanship. His experience comes from years spent inside real working galleries — not just observing, but participating. Much of Colin’s early exposure to fine art came through his godfather, respected gallerist Robert Wilson. Colin spent countless hours in Wilson’s gallery, assisting with installations, visiting artists’ studios, and delivering artwork to clients. This hands-on upbringing gave him a practical understanding of how art is made, how it’s presented, and how it resonates with people in their homes and daily lives. The values learned during those years — authenticity, skill, and respect for the creative process — continue to guide Thomsen Fine Art today. The gallery focuses on traditional mastery, impressionism, and contemporary innovation, showcasing artists whose work demonstrates strong technique and meaningful presence. Each piece is selected with a clear, thoughtful eye, prioritizing quality over anything else. Located in Sarasota’s historic arts district, Thomsen Fine Art aims to offer an inviting and down-to-earth experience for collectors and newcomers alike. The space is designed for people to look closely, ask questions, and discover art that stands the test of time.
