Koa Gallery
Kapi'olani Community College believes in all round development of the students. What better way than setting up an art gallery within the campus? Koa Gallery is a like a laboratory, where the artists and students experiment and dabble in varied forms of visual art. With encouragement and coverage from the local press, the gallery undertakes different events and exhibitions throughout the year. It encourages the local artists to display their works and prove their potential. It can be rightly said that the Koa Gallery takes art to a new level.
Western and Eastern art, crafts and costumes are displayed in this spacious gallery and the works are by students and established visiting artists. A wide variety of styles and media are displayed. Recent exhibits include Mai Na Kupuna Mai, Ho'i I Ka Pu'olo, which featured the works of more than 50 local artists, in addition to Private Passions, which showcased five private collections. The most famous exhibit is the annual International Shoebox Sculpture Exhibition. Admission is free.

Located on the second floor of the Chinese Cultural Plaza, this place is a bit of a hidden treasure. Several exhibits of Chinese art are displayed, ranging from traditional formal dress to ornate screens. Films play in a room to the side. The staff here consists of one mild-mannered security guard whose job it is to sign people in and out. Any questions can be addressed to the tourism office, located a few doors down.
