The Ark
Originally envisaged, in 1965, as a hang-out for students, The Ark has undergone quite some changes since then. This non-profit organization is dedicated to bringing live entertainment to the city and is an eclectic place for various concerts and shows that take place here. Special workshops and annual festivals are organized too. From jazz to contemporary, this place is truly a haven for those who love music. Not a huge place, but it has all the right ingredients to make it one of the most successful music venues the city has to offer.

Art Corner Studio is a community art studio in Ann Arbor dedicated to helping students develop strong artistic skills through structured, supportive instruction. Our classes focus on building real foundations in drawing, observation, composition, and creative thinking. Rather than one-time craft activities, students learn techniques that help them steadily improve and gain confidence in their work over time. We work with children, teens, and adults at many different stages of their artistic journey. Some students are discovering art for the first time, while others return after years away to rebuild their skills and explore their creativity. Our instructors guide students individually, helping them strengthen their technical abilities while encouraging them to develop their own unique artistic voice. Many students remain with the studio for years as they continue to grow and refine their work. For older students interested in pursuing art or design academically, we also offer guidance in developing supplementary portfolios for college applications, helping them prepare for competitive art and design programs. Since its beginnings as a small tutoring program in 2005, Art Corner Studio has grown into a long-standing creative learning space that has supported hundreds of students in the Ann Arbor community. Our goal is not only to teach techniques, but to help students build the confidence, discipline, and curiosity that allow creativity to flourish over the long term.
