Hello! My name is Erika, and I am a violin teacher new to Santa Barbara. I'm looking for new students! I offer online or in-home lessons, with free trial lessons (30 mins). A little about me: I've been playing violin for 14 years and teaching for 4 years. I've taken teacher training courses with the Suzuki Music Institute, and I've passed my audition tapes to teach all levels of Suzuki Violin. I've taught students ranging from 5-50 years old from beginner levels to intermediate/advanced levels. (I also speak Mandarin and Japanese!) I've taken classes at the Juilliard School, and I've also attended competitive institutions such as at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and the Meadowmount School of Music. I've studied with renown violinists such as Dr. Carlo Malanima, of Teatro Carlo Felice Orchestra and Professor Kikuei Ikeda, of the Tokyo String Quartet (retired Yale faculty). I've won first prizes in the Osaka International Music Competition in the solo and quartet divisions and was invited to perform at the Japanese Consulate.

Established in 2002 by Alex and Mondo Adams, Yellow Bird Music is a vibrant hub for children's music education in Santa Barbara. We are dedicated to fostering creativity, self-discovery, and a lifelong love of music in children from a very young age. Alex is a passionate music teacher with dual degrees in Music and Drama from UCSB, and she brings years of experience as a vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter to our programs. We offer a diverse range of classes and camps tailored to different age groups and developmental stages. Our classes include Chicks for ages 3-18 months, Tweets for ages 18 months-3 years, Birdies for ages 3-5 years, and Family Flock for all ages. For older children, ages 4-7, we offer specialized camps, such as our Musical Theater Camp, where campers develop singing, acting, and dancing skills. Each camp week concludes with a showcase, allowing children to proudly share their achievements. In addition to group classes and camps, we offer one-on-one music instruction for various instruments, ensuring personalized learning experiences that cater to each child's unique interests and abilities.
