Silver Tree Art
Art Works Studios and Galleries is the perfect place to plan a party, wedding, or to host a gallery showing for art. If you want to have your creations seen, then Art Works will collaborate with you to make sure that everything goes according to how you'd like it. Gallery spaces are aplenty on the two floors of the building. There are some galleries that are always available to peruse, so you can check out local artists' work - from paintings, photographs, jewelry and crafts - and perhaps make a purchase or two. On the 4th day of the month, the entire building is open to the public, including all of the rented spaces, and food as well as music is provided while you walk around and check out the talent. There are monthly youth art classes and group art projects that are offered to the public.
The Eric Schindler Gallery is a must visit if you are in the city to witness some local art. They have exhibitions from time to time where the works of various artists like Chris Chase, Joe De Roche, Tim Harris, Katherine McGinn, Tracey St.Peter and many more are displayed. You can visit the website to know more about any upcoming events.
Black Iris
Curated by the renowned environmentalist artist, Benjamin Thorp, Black Iris is a space for contemporary art in all its forms. The gallery acts as a platform for up-and-coming talent, not just in the form of artists and sculptors but also musicians and other culturally inclined groups. Along with a variety of art exhibitions which have no boundaries when it comes to method or medium, the gallery is also host to experimental musical events, screenings, lectures and social interactions.
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts contains comprehensive collections of works from ancient times to the present. Permanent exhibits include pieces from ancient Greece, a tapestry hall, a medieval chapel and the largest collection of Faberge eggs outside of Russia. A regular schedule of temporary exhibits rounds out this comprehensive art museum. A peaceful sculpture garden provides a place for a quiet rest beside the rushing fountains.
