Honing their skills right from ages 12 and 11 respectively, Michele and Giovanni Varallo, were apprentices for three years at Antonio Scandone’s Bakery in Montella Avellino, Italy. They have perfected their craft over the years, and run Varallo Brothers Pasticceria, a traditional Italian bakery in Philadelphia, close to Wharton. Their famous Chocolate Ricotta Cannoli is served alongside the lesser known Coda Daragosta, which is equally delectable. They have experimented with their family recipes and have come up with a range of baked goods that consists of traditional favorites as well as modern innovations.

Termini Brothers Bakery specializes in Italian confections, from Torrone to Cannoli, Biscotti to Sfogliatelle. All items are made using original recipes from founder Giuseppe Termini, who brought them to America from Enna, Sicily in 1921. Cannoli is our most beloved and renowned recipe. Each cannoli is made from scratch and created with original tools used by the founders. These treats require a 10-step process to create and involve at least 10 different bakers. When the cannoli are ordered, we hand-fill them for you in the store and dust them with confectioner's sugar. Termini's products are all made without the use of preservatives in our Flagship 8th St store kitchen. Stop in soon for a tour!

Cake
Cake which sits in an old flower shop, is popular among the locals. It's the perfect place to head to for a lazy morning of coffee and cake with your friends. The space is bright and airy, and the exposed brick walls give it a trendy, rustic feel. On weekends it fills up with a mixture of people ranging from soccer moms and children, to trendy hipsters reading Hemingway. The menu has your basic cafe fare, like soups and salads to omelettes and hot sandwiches. They have a nice selection of teas and coffees, all of which are served in large, thick mugs. But the very best think about Cake, is well, their cakes. They have a wide assortment of flavors, colors and types, so theres something to satisfy the sweet tooth in everyone.
