We are all about good ingredients, making just about everything from scratch, and connecting with our customers on a human level. In terms of our coffee, we travel the world to source it from excellent producers, paying them well above the fair trade rate and then roast at just down the street at our Logan Square roasting facility. Our baked goods are made and baked in house daily at our Lakeview location and delivered to our other stores. Our ice cream and cones are made entirely from scratch right here at the Logan location. With the exception of our nutella syrup, all of our other syrups are made entirely from scratch using real ingredients and teas. Our staff are hired for their people skills and trained in depth to develop their coffee skills to consistently deliver top notch quality. The goal of the Pedestrian brand is to be a trustworthy brand for quality, safe ingredients, approachability and kindness.
Crema
Dark Matter Coffee is run by entrepreneur Jesse Diaz, who formerly worked as a barista, before venturing out on his own. Diaz learned all about beans through hard work, and today his shop in Ukrainian Village specializes in barrel-aged coffee which uses fermented beans that yield deep and complex flavors. The artisan roastery stands out among its Chicago peers by its fearless attitude to experiment with roasting and brewing techniques. It boldly tries innovative methods but also revives long-lost traditions. This coffeehouse features quirky charts and pipes on the walls to exhibit the coffee brewing process, and vintage equipment displayed flamboyantly in a separate space, making the place resemble a museum. The groovy background music, whimsical decor and rich coffee makes the cafe an undisputed winner.
We are a Latina owned small business. We roast our own coffee and make fresh bagel sandwiches to order. Our goal is to provide a fun, safe, high energy environment to enjoy good music and food.
