Hawthorne Animal Hospital is a veterinary hospital in Athens focusing on PETCARE--positivity, empathy, trustworthiness, community, accountability, respect, and education. We aim to foster the respect of our community through outreach and goodwill. We strive to be the solution in all situations, seeking answers for patients and solving crises for clients. We work precisely and conscientiously to avoid mistakes. We treat our clients, patients, and each other with respect, while continually seeking self-education and offering client education. We recognize our community responsibilities and aim to contribute to the overall health of our community and pets.
We provide after-hours emergency and critical care services for cats and dogs. During our hours of operation, we are staffed with an on-duty veterinarian and animal health staff who are dedicated to providing quality, full-service care.
Dr. Jessica Izlar is a Georgia native who was born and raised in Snellville and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a minor in Psychology, from Georgia Southern University in 2007. She went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia in 2014 after first being inspired by a childhood visit to UGA’s veterinary school. After more than a decade in small animal general practice, she felt a clear calling toward end-of-life care and founded Willow Bridge Veterinary Home Hospice and Euthanasia Service to focus on providing gentle, in-home support for pets and their families.
Emergency & Cirtical Care for Cats and Dogs! The Athens Veterinary Surgery Center began with a handful of dedicated clinics and has now grown to a full service surgery referral center specializing in general, orthopedic, and spinal surgery for the small animal patient.
