Yellow House Playschool is a play based, primarily outdoor program, for children ages 18 months-3 years. We offer an exciting and enriched program for toddlers to attend with a caregiver. We offer all the components of a preschool geared to the abilities and interest of toddlers. Each class will include a circle time where the child and their caregiver sit with the group and enjoy stories, finger plays, songs, movement and flannel board activities. They will have the opportunity during free choice to explore sensory bins, loose part play, artistic expression. Our lovely yard is equipped with a mud kitchen, playhouse, sandbox, climbing structures, riding toys, activity tables, and, of course, our wonderful chicken coop. A nutritious snack will also be provided. This program will be launched in the summer of 2025
Our goal at Chatham Schools is to provide a safe environment for children to grow and learn through play based curriculum.
Oakland Community Montessori School is a licensed, in-home preschool and daycare nestled in the Crestmont neighborhood of Oakland. We offer a warm, in-home learning environment where children ages 18 months to 4 years are deeply seen, supported, and empowered to grow into confident, compassionate thinkers. Our approach is inspired by Montessori principles—but we take it further. We center the lived experiences of families who have long been excluded from this type of nurturing education. We honor identity, encourage creativity, and create space for children to develop critical thinking, empathy, and self-trust from the very beginning. Here, children are free to explore, make choices, and engage with the world around them in meaningful ways. We guide with love, set boundaries with intention, and foster a rhythm that supports each child’s natural development. This is not school as usual. This is education for justice. This is learning that heals and uplifts.
Gan Avraham
Gan Avraham Preschool has served Oakland families from our Grand Lake location since the 1980s. We're a small, warm Jewish preschool for children ages 2–5, with just 52 spots across three classrooms—small enough that every child is truly known. Our twelve experienced teachers bring remarkable stability and love to their work, with low turnover that means real continuity for your child. We weave Jewish values, traditions, holidays, and Hebrew into everyday play, making Jewish life feel joyful and natural. Families across the spectrum of observance—including interfaith and those new to Jewish community—are warmly welcomed. More than a preschool, Gan Avraham is a community where children build their first friendships and families find belonging. Generations of East Bay families have called us home.
Founded in 1990, we are a year-round developmental program centrally located in the Rockridge section of North Oakland, close to pedestrian-friendly College Avenue, the Rockridge Bart station and the Rockridge shopping district.
