Our diverse toddler and preschool program uses a variety of weekly theme-based lessons using structured routines, natural learning and play. We integrate art, music and dance, yoga, pre-literacy, pre-math and Spanish language in our educational environment. Our daily lessons are taught in both English and Spanish. Our goal is to expose our students to Spanish language by exposing them to a broad vocabulary through songs, books, circle time and language games. We encourage independence and personal responsibility. We believe children learn by doing, therefore, they develop confidence and self-reliance. As parents ourselves, we have created a curriculum based on best practices we would want for our own children. As teachers, we are committed to maintaining an enriching and unique experience for each child.

Wildflowers Preschool is a neighborhood preschool located in SE Portland. The director and lead teacher, Heidi Donahue, has a Master's in Environmental Education and has created a curriculum that is a unique mix of Reggio Emilia, Montessori and Environmental Education. All three approaches to early childhood education give children some control over the direction of their learning and highlight the importance of using all senses to learn and honor the endless range of ways children have to express themselves. We provide an environment where children feel safe and part of a small community of families and teachers working together to meet the needs of each child. We offer daily circle times, literacy lessons, music and movement, art activities and lots of exploration of the natural world. We believe that children learn best when they are allowed to follow their natural curiosities about the world around them.
