Gabriel Park Preschool

Gabriel Park Preschool is a non profit cooperative preschool for children ages 2-5 years old. Family members, children and the teacher cooperate to make our school special. At GPPS, parents are involved in their child's preschool experience. Parent involvement gives the school a rich, nurturing environment while also keeping tuition low. Co-op preschools offer many benefits to both children and parents. Our classes are: Youngsters' Class (ages 2-3), Preschool Class (ages 3-5), and Pre-K Class (ages 4-5). Please contact us if you would like more information or a tour!

Rising Song Preschool

At Rising Song children are given the space, trust and freedom to play, imagine and create. Rising Song is a nature-based, Waldorf-inspired preschool, open Monday-Thursday from 9:30-1:30. We're located in a cozy NE home with a half-acre garden/playscape and operate with a low student/teacher ratio of 7:1. Our classroom is mixed age, serving children 3 to 5 years old.

Tigard Playschool

Tigard Playschool gives young children the opportunity to learn how to play in a group with other children their own age while discovering new and exciting activities through our play-based curriculum. Our classes, for 2- to young 6-year-olds, are designed to help children develop independence and self-confidence and a positive attitude toward school. While they play, your children will learn and develop small and large motor skills, speaking and listening skills, and other important pre-literacy skills. Our students learn about the world around them through self-directed exploration of our regularly-changing art, science, math, dramatic play, and literacy learning centers; music and movement activities; outdoor play; field trips; and special projects. Our program encourages children’s individuality while teaching them to respect the rights of others and to cooperate with the group. Tigard Playschool is a cooperative preschool, where parents and children learn and play together alongside our dedicated team of caring and experienced teachers. We see parents as our partners in educating children, and as a result our students benefit and so do our families. Parent involvement allows us to have more teachers in the classroom, so we enjoy lower student-to-teacher ratios and lower tuition than traditional private preschools.

Childswork Learning Center

Our curriculum is a natural extension of our community's view of children. We view children as unique and competent learners, capable of investigation and problem-solving. As such, we provide a play-based, developmentally appropriate environment in which we build an emergent and constructivist curriculum with our students. In an emergent curriculum, investigation topics "emerge" from our students. We observe children in order to identify interests and select topics as a class. In supported small and large group settings, we explore concepts in a hands-on manner. Our investigations are shaped by the students' decision-making; children truly learn how to learn. Our teachers use their strong knowledge of child development to support children's learning and play. Teachers observe and structure the environment to encourage wonder, discovery, and meaningful learning. Childswork's curriculum was also founded on the inspirational work of Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky and Loris Malaguzzi (of Reggio Emilia). Their influence is still alive and well in our classroom today. Childswork adheres to the Oregon Early Childhood Foundations which are woven into our curriculum.
