Whole Child Learning Center is a four hour in-home Montessori/Reggio Emillia Preschool on Queen Anne Hill, established in 2000. Our philosophy is a holistic approach to education in which we create the opportunity for our children to develop to their fullest potentials as healthy and resilient individuals. It really does take a Village; Parents, children, teachers and a thriving community to create a space that honors a child's balance of mind and heart, body and spirit. Children enroll from ages 2.5 to 5 years, encouraging healthy development of empathy, social & emotional interaction and academic mastery of preschool skills. We have 15-20 students and four gifted teachers each day. WCLC has a Children's Garden, an Annual Family Picnic, daily potty learning assistance and Kindergarten transition guidance for all our students and families. We dance, sing, create and share acts of kindness with our friends everyday, making WCLC a wonderful place for joyful learning!
Your child will enjoy a nurturing environment, with circle time, songs and stories, as well as daily specialty classes, including ceramics, music, dance, American Sign Language and wilderness lore. Everyday includes dramatic play areas, sensory activities, indoor and/or outdoor gross motor play, time for socializing and developing friendships, a range of intellectual activities reflecting different learning styles, interests and abilities, individual creations, collaborative projects, and plenty of time for hands on exploration of their school and the world around them. Tessera is a Greek word describing a small tile used to create mosaics. We chose this name because we see each child as unique and individual, and also as an integral part of our larger community. We work together to create a supportive, unhurried environment where children can focus on processes, creation and self expression.
We make and create. We make art, build, read, grow plants from seeds, act in plays and sing out loud. We play. A LOT. We're outside everyday in our junkyard-style playground. Rain or shine! We explore. We take field trips on foot or by bus to see new places and make discoveries. We build community. We serve and support each other and our local Fremont community.
We are a Christian Preschool located in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. Children attend either 3 or 4 hours a day. We are open Monday thru Friday, 9:30 to 1:30.
