Mathnasium
Mathnasium is a math-only learning center that offers math tutoring and enrichment, homework help, and test preparation services to students in grades K-12.All Mathnasium students begin with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints their strengths and weaknesses in math. The results of the assessment generate a customized learning plan, specific to the child, to help them catch up, keep up, and get ahead in math.The learning plan is then taught to students in the center by trained tutors over the course of 1 hour sessions 2-3 times a week. In addition to their Mathnasium work, students can bring in homework, review guides, and class materials they would like assistance with.Mathnasium delivers results and confidence in the classroom.

We offer ACT tutoring in the Mesa and Gilbert areas. We approach PSAT/SAT/ACT preparation as a sports coach would approach the playoffs. Over our eight-session course, we teach skills, employ drills, review concepts, and practice timing so our students feel confident and prepared come test day. No Surprises: We teach all concepts that will be on the test (PSAT, SAT, or ACT). Our students can then take the test with confidence. Innovative Use of Drills: Working 1-on-1 with our students allows us to identify a given student's specific deficiencies and then to employ 'drills' to leave the student feeling comfortable and capable in his or her area of previous deficiency. Concept Review: Applying principles from cognitive psychology, we use 'warm-ups' and practical reviews to ensure that our students remember concepts. Timing Practice: Many students do not score as high as they should on these tests simply because they run out of time. Our course includes a strong emphasis on speed.

I am a highly-qualified math teacher of 7 years. I am still in the classroom teaching, but enjoy tutoring in my free time! Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2 are my specialties, but I have knowledge of various math classes and contents. My passion in life is making math accessible to students of all ages and building their confidence in their math abilities. I use a student-centered approach to ensure that the student is the one do-ing, and therefore the one learning, and address their misconceptions along the way. While I can provide additional practice problems/assignments/resources, I do require that the student comes to the session prepared to learn with their notes from class, assignments/tests/quizzes from class that they intend to complete or get help with, writing utensils, and any tech that is required for them.
