Intended as a multi-use center when it was built in 1926, the Sarasota Opera house has had quite the history. Besides serving as a performance venue, the space has also been used for shops and apartments. It has played host to such performers as Will Rogers and Elvis Presley, as well as the world premier of the film "The Greatest Show on Earth." The Sarasota Opera House, which can accommodate about 1,200 spectators, also serves as one of the venues for Florida's premier chamber music extravaganza: La Musica International Chamber Music Festival. Head to this Mediterranean-style attraction for some of the best entertainment in town.
