Freehold is a center for the practice of theater. Since 1991, Freehold has been offering exceptional acting classes year round and outstanding theatrical performances. Freehold engages artists of all levels in training and experimentation so that they may become more innovative and hearfelt in generating theatre that has a lasting impact on the community we serve. Our community is defined by our two distinct program areas: our Studio and our Theatre Lab. Our Studio provides a place for actors, from inspired novices to working professionals, to take classes. Freehold engages an exclusive faculty of independent professional artists who give back to the theatre community through their teaching. Our student population is diverse in age, income, and background. Our Theatre Lab provides a forum for accomplished artists to experiment by continually challenging themselves and their peers to develop their art outside commercial pressures.
Founded in 1991, Seattle Shakespeare Company presents year-round productions of classical plays. In our indoor home at the Center House Theatre at Seattle Center, we produce a season of play by Shakespeare and other classic authors. During the summer our free, outdoor Wooden O productions tour to parks in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. Our nimble state-wide touring productions feature 90-minute versions of Shakespeare's works that play in schools and other venues. Our innovative education programs include school residencies, workshops, classes and camps during school breaks.
