Located in the Live Oak area of the city, Center for Spiritual Living is a welcoming community offering various services for spiritual growth and enlightenment. The facility offers an open, broad-minded and non-judgemental environment that encourages development of spiritual maturity. Propounding what they call 'The Science of Mind', this unique place of worship can be described better as spiritual than religious. Professional practitioners offer ministries and prayer service for the community here, guided by a single Spiritual Truth of Oneness. The Center for Spiritual Living also offers a range of classes and workshops along with several cultural programs and events throughout the year.
Founded in 1791, for the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, the Franciscan order set up the Mission Santa Cruz. It is a religious site for the conversion of natives to Christianity, starting with the Ohlone and then the Yokuts. A Holy Cross Church was built on this site in 1889 which is home to the a few old headstones and a part of the foundation stone of the original buildings. Still an active parish, the church lies next to the a replica of the original church which today functions as a chapel.
