Child Protective Services, a part of County of Santa Cruz Human Services Department, offers services for children who have been neglected and abused in the state of California. The program also makes referrals to appropriate agencies. County of Santa Cruz Human Services Department administers public assistance programs, including Food Stamps, Medi-Cal and CalWORKs to low income families with dependent children. The department also serves low-income seniors, disabled and dependent adults through its in-home supportive services and multipurpose senior services programs. In addition, County of Santa Cruz Human Services Department offers an adult protective services program that assists 18 years or older persons who have been abused, neglected and exploited, as well as who are vulnerable and unable to take the necessary steps to correct their situation.
California Coalition of Barrios Unidos began as a community-based peace movement in 1977. A nonprofit organization, the agency offers a wide variety of social services and helps youths and their families. Located in Santa Cruz, Calif., it is affiliated to the Macsa Intervention Center, Evangelical Lutheran Church In America, CJNY, California Rural Legal Assistance and Career Works - Workforce Development. The agency s programs include the Cesar E. Chavez School for Social Change, Community Outrearch and Community Economic Development.
