The Denton County Juvenile Probation Department offers diversion, educational and counseling services. Located in Lewisville, Texas, the department also provides family counseling, parent training and support services. It maintains the Denton County Juvenile Detention Center, also known as DCJDC, which offers health care and long-term treatment services. In addition, the Denton County Juvenile Probation Department provides course instruction in subjects, such as English, math, science and social studies. The department s facilities include a gymnasium, cafeteria, basketball court and obstacle course that provide indoor and outdoor activities for detained juveniles. The Denton County Juvenile Probation Department additionally offers aftercare, case management and aggression management services.

Public Health investigates and reports communicable diseases such as H1N1, measles, pertussis, hepatitis and over 70 other reportable diseases. DCPH has developed a program called HEART-Health Emergency Alert Response Team. HEART is involved in emergency preparedness and response for major public health threats such as an anthrax attacks as well as responding to natural disasters such as tornadoes, floods or hurricanes that occur on the Texas or Louisiana coast. DCPH also strives to educate the public regarding healthy behaviors in cardiovascular disease prevention, tobacco cessation and prevention, cancer risk reduction, diabetes education, and injury prevention. In addition to these large-scale concerns, the DCPH provides services to include testing and treatment for persons with preventable communicable diseases such as sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and tuberculosis (TB). Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Services are available to provide nutrition education and food vouchers for those who qualify. Our highly skilled, educated, and compassionate staff consists of bilingual support personnel, registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, physicians, certified health educators, social workers, nutritionists, and administrators. We partner with many other organizations such as schools districts, city parks and recreation departments, TWU, UNT, and EMS, just to name a few to provide a healthy social and physical environment.
