Anisa M. Yalom, MD, is a board certified and fellowship-trained Hand and Wrist Surgeon. She performs reconstructive surgeries to restore the structure or improve patients' fine motor skills after nerve, tendon and ligament injuries, fractures, and joint conditions like arthritis, birth defects, or traumatic injuries to their hands, wrist and forearms. Dr. Yalom holds privileges at multiple hospitals throughout San Diego County to better serve her patients at the hospital that is most convenient for them. These include Scripps Encinitas, Scripps Memorial La Jolla, Scripps Mercy, Sharp Metro Memorial, Sharp Grossmont and Palomar Hospitals. She is a graduate of David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where she earned her medical degree in 2008. In medical school she was recognized with the Dean's Award for an Outstanding Thesis and the Award for Excellence in Surgery. Dr. Yalom completed her internship in General Surgery at Harbor-UCLA in Torrance, California, where she was awarded the Intern of the Year award in 2009. She then went on to complete the rigorous General Surgery Residency at Harbor-UCLA in Torrance, CA in 2014. Following her residency she was accepted into the combined Orthopedic and Plastics Hand Surgery Fellowship at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA where she was trained in the full range of orthopedic hand surgery as well as microsurgical techniques for composite free tissue transfer and limb salvage under the guidance of Dr. L...
