I am comfortable supporting pregnant people and their families in all settings including hospital, birth center and at home. I have experience supporting high risk and VBAC clients. I have been described by many of my clients as a calm, patient, reassuring presence and I tailor my support to meet the individual needs of expectant families as they enter the amazing experience of parenthood. As a doula, I am a trained professional who provides emotional support, physical comfort and informational assistance to a pregnant mother and her partner before during and just after childbirth. I provide comfort measures like massage, counter pressure, position suggestions and continuous reassurance. The presence of a doula has actually been shown to reduce the need for medical intervention and cesarean section. Doulas also support the mother and her partner. Fathers/partners experience the birth as an emotional journey of their own and may find it hard to be objective in such a situation, and a doula facilitates the family process. Studies have shown that fathers/partners usually participate more actively during labor with the presence of a doula than without one. The continuous presence of a doula at a hospital or birthing center can be of great comfort to a laboring woman and her partner. A doula does not speak for them, but can facilitate communication between the couple and their caregivers.

Comprehensive Childbirth Preparation Classes open to couples planning birth at hospital, home or birthing center. Covering the physiology of late pregnancy, signs + stages of labor, pain coping strategies, labor support and massage, routine monitoring and the risks and benefits of common medical interventions and pain medications, the postpartum period, breastfeeding and newborn care.

Brooklyn Birthing Center is the only free-standing birthing facility in the New York metro area. Low-risk clients can give birth in the comfort of our private, home-like birthing suites. Clients who want or need to deliver in a hospital setting can birth with our midwives at the nearby Maimonides Medical Center. In addition to these services, we sponsor classes in childbirth education, breastfeeding, and newborn care. A lactation consultant and a social worker are available on-site by appointment. Brooklyn Birthing Center is staffed by the Brooklyn Midwifery Group. Our board-certified midwives offer well-woman visits, family planning, and BRCA testing in addition to obstetric care. We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicaid. Clients can now schedule office visits at three convenient Brooklyn locations: Midwood, Park Slope, and Williamsburg.
