Heritage Park Village Museum was constructed as a memorial to the American Bicentennial. It was dedicated to the citizens of Oceanside and opened on July 4, 1976. Today, it stands as a lovely, peaceful park with mature shade trees, historic buildings, a picturesque gazebo and the home of the North County Model Railroad Society (ncmrs.org). The museum buildings capture early Oceanside from 1885-1920 and tours are available on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am - 2pm. They are also available by appointment. Donations are appreciated. Heritage Park Village Museum is open to the public and available for special events.
Also known as South Leucadia State Beach, Beacon's Beach is a popular spot in Encinitas. Access to the beach features a relatively steep dirt path leading from the parking lot down to the actual beach. The beach is particularly favored among surfers and sunbathers—a true hidden gem.
